Patent leather cleaner and poromeric cleaner is a product designed to clean and polish high-gloss manmade products (such as Corfam and Clarino) and patent leather. Both patent leather and poromerics consist of a substrate (leather in the case of patent leather and fabric in the case of poromeric material) which has been covered with an overlay (patent leather was originally clear lacquer; poromerics are usually acrylic or polyurethane). Polish can degrade the overlay surface, damaging the finish, so poromerics are more appropriate for the task.
